Tell me more about a Retreat

Shannon and Dave offer these Cancer Wellness Retreats from their home in the foothills of Western NC to help men and women with cancer find healing and balance.  

A rustic but friendly property, the intent is to help others who are interested in learning ways to better manage their stress and energy, open their hearts, and connect with others that are dealing with similar issues. 

Group diversity is important, and while each retreat is unique, you can expect to see a blend of activities such as:
    • Daily morning movement (Breathing Exercises, Qi Gong, Gentle Yoga)
    • Workshops designed to help you explore and deepen your feelings about this experience
    • Healing techniques to reduce stress (guided imagery, breath work, ...)
    • Laugher, storytelling and sharing with others living with cancer
    • Art, music, light hikes, hammock time, and listening to the sounds of the creek and nearby waterfall
    • Bon Fire
We have also been fortunate to have special guests at some previous retreats including a Tai Chi/Qi Gong Master, Healing Touch Therapists, Oncology Nutritionist, Sound Therapist, Art Experts, Musicians, Specialty Chef and Massage Therapists.  Each retreat is unique and may have one or more - these are merely a sample from previous retreats to give you a sense of what we have found to be helpful.

Is this Retreat for Me?
  • We welcome men and women with all types of cancer and all faith traditions, ethnicities, sexual orientations, and economic backgrounds. 
  • These retreats are for the person living with cancer only.
  • A majority of participants are between 25 - 55 years old.
  • Each person must be able to handle their own medical needs and walk up and down stairs and uneven gravel paths.*
  • Most of our participants are from the Carolina's but we do welcome applicants nation-wide for a few spaces.
If you are looking to slow down, find more balance and an opportunity to focus on what is important to you now, contact Shannon and Dave for an application.   We respond to all inquiries (by phone and/or by email), however we are not able to accept all applicants due to space limitations as well as our desire to create strong group dynamics for sharing purposes.

* Please note, we are NOT a medical facility, a spa or camp - rather we are a husband and wife team opening our home several times a year for these retreat experiences because we believe that reconnecting with Nature, with Yourself, and with Others dealing with cancer is vitally important when you are at the right point in your journey.

The Cost

We do NOT charge participants, allowing participants to focus on healing rather than economic concerns. Transportation is the participant's responsibility.  

This is truly a small grassroots effort, and one that believes in a "pay it forward" philosophy.   We are a 501(c)3 non profit organization and are funded by wonderful individual contributors and small business Sponsors.
